Gloucester-Revere Game Preview

When: November 6th, 2009

Where: Newell Stadium, Gloucester, MA

Time: 7 p.m.

Game Notes: In an NEC Large showdown vs. Lynn English Gloucester proved to be the better team as they routed the Bulldogs 48-7 behind Conor Ressel's career day. ( 25 rushes 257 yards 3 TDs) This Fishermen team has been on a roll thus far in the season posting 34.9 ppg while only allowing a mind boggling 6.1 ppg. An early season question mark for the team was who was going to fill the shoes of the four graduating senior linemen? This question was answered very in the season when Seniors Jeff Lane, Ryan Fulford and Juniors A.J. Mizzoni and Anthony LaTassa stepped into the void and have played exceptional this season. On the other hand Revere has been a bottom feeder of the NEC Large for over half a decade now. The Patriots came close to defeating the Rams last as made a late rally to socre, but turned the ball over on downs late in the fourth quarter. The one bright spot for Revere this year is their all world Running Back Trea Weathers who is getting looks from small Division one schools for football this year. gloucester should not take this team to lightly because the patriots have the role of spoilers on their mind for this upcoming game friday.
Key Players:
Gloucester: Conor Ressel RB/CB, Brandon Cusumano WB/CB, Gus Margiotta C/DT
Revere: Trea Weathers RB/LB, Paul Norton QB/CB, Will Weathers T/LB

Gloucester and the Wing T

In the past decade many teams in the Northeastern Conference have decided to start emulating Division one college schools like Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Florida, and etc. During this time period one coach has decided that he will stay with his power running game offense, that coach would be Paul Ingram of Gloucester. He can use this offense to his advantage because most high school students at Gloucester High are undersized, so he has to make up for this fatal flaw using deception. In a given play they can be over three fakes which makes an aggressive defense play passive against the vaunted Wing T attack. The basis of the Wing T offense is to have two athletic guards that can pull and trap, a center who can take a good playside step and defeat the defensive lineman and skill positions who can carry out their fakes well. What makes the offense effective is when the linemen can get into their opponents hips and drive them right down the line to make vast holes for the running backs to go through. This offense is deadly when you have a quarterback who can carry out a fake and make a throw to one of his many different weapons.

Gloucester-Lynn English Game Preview

Where: Newell Stadium

When: Friday, October 30, 2009 7 p.m.

Game Notes: The Fishermen are coming off one of their most dominant performances of the season as they defeated the Peabody Tanners 34-0. Gloucester posted it's 4th shutout of the season last Friday. Now the Fishermen will have to prepare for an NEC Large showdown against a very dangerous Lynn English Bulldogs. Tyllor MacDonald leads the vaunted Lynn English passing attack with 18 touchdown passes, which is most in the state. His favorite target is the 6'1" Travonne Berry-Rodgers, who has caught half of MacDonald's TD passes. This game for all intensive purposes can be considered the NEC Large Title game because both of these teams are considered the class of the conference. The Fishermen have been led by the 2 way starter Brett Cahill who has become known as one of the most efficient passers in the North Shore and has played stellar at weak side linebacker. Gilbert Brown has been asked to fill the big shoes of their stand out junior tight end Chris Unis who has been sidelined with an elbow injury since Week 6. The Fishermen must lean on their HB Conor Ressel and FB Ali D'Angelo to help soften up a stout Bulldog defense.

Players to Watch:
Lynn English: Travonne Berry-Rodgers WR, Tyllor MacDonald QB, Jarred Dwyer C/LB
Gloucester: Ali D'Angelo FB/S, Gilbert Brown TE/LB, Conor Ressel HB/CB
